VIDEO: Muslim Leaders Want Education CS Fired Following Reckless Remarks to an NTV Muslim Journalist

Muslim leaders are now calling on the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to take action against Education Cabinet Secretary, George Magoha for making Al Shabaab remarks during a press conference to an NTV female journalist.

During the event, a female Muslim reporter wearing a hijab asked the CS a question, and instead of answering, demanded to know where she was from and whether she represented the Al Shabaab.

"Who are you representing? Because if you are representing Alshabaab, I will not answer you," Education CS remarked.

Magoha then laughed and said he would answer her question after learning she worked for a local station.

However, some attendees expressed their displeasure with Magoha's remarks, calling them unacceptable.

The Muslim Council of Kenya described this as religious profiling, claiming that Magoha's views undermine religious freedom as guaranteed by the constitution.

“In this unfortunate incident captured and broadcast on video the CS is seen targeting, discriminating, and verbally attacking the young lady Muslim journalist on the basis of her religion and rearing to her as representing a terrorist organization,” stated SUPKEM chairperson Hassan Ole Nado.

The Muslim leaders want President Uhuru Kenyatta to fire the Education CS for what they call reckless statements, while also urging the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) to investigate.

“We are calling upon the NCIC to take immediate action against the CS, the Media Council of Kenya to take it up and president Uhuru Kenyatta the appointing authority to sack the CS, ” added Kahdija Mohammd Association of Muslim Lawyers in Kenya.

Education CS, Magoha is yet to apologize for the remarks he made.

Magoha made the remarks two weeks ago while attending a function in Nairobi where he laid the groundwork for the second phase of CBC junior classrooms.
