 In 2008; A massive earthquake took place in Sichuan province in China and claimed 90,000 lives and left a massive destructions. 

During the American Revolution, Major General Benjamin Lincoln of the Continental Army was forced to surrender with 7,000 troops at Charleston , South Carolina. The American Revolution was also called the US War of Independence which took place between 1775 and 1783. 

 In 1926, aboard the semirigid airship Norge, Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen, American scientist Lincoln Ellsworth and Italian engineer Umberto  Nobile made the first flight over the North pole.

National Tampon Day; Tampons are menstrual products that are used in place of sanitary towels and serve the same purpose. Before their innovation, women had to undergo shame of wearing rugs some of which were unhygenic.  The Lister`s Towel was the first sanitary product to be invented in 1888 by Johnson and Johnson. The Hoosier belt came second in the 1890`s.  In 1929, Dr. Earle Haas invented the first tampon. 

Pulic Gardens day: This day is meant for one to go outside and generally enjoy the nature . Spending more time on nature has been proven to be the best ways in stress reduction. The day was established in 2009 by the American Public Gardens Association. Its aim is to raise awareness on psychological benefits of gardens.
