Thugs stormed into a bar in Nyakoe, Kisii County and attacked three guards who were on duty, chopping the hand off one of the guards.

The attack happened on Sunday night at Candy Villa in the sub-county of Kitutu Chache South's Embassy neighborhood.

Ezekiel Letet, a security guard, got his hand cut and also sustained a deep cut on the head from the attack with the thugs.

The attackers then terrorized customers in the bar but did not steal anything during their attack. The motive of the attack is yet to be determined.

"We are yet to know the motive of the attack," he said.

Two other guards on watch at the Candy Villa suffered deep head cuts.

The three guards were rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for emergency medical care.

The event, according to Candy Villa manager, Richard Obara, happened hours after they had shut down for the day.

He claimed that the thugs were equipped with pangas, knives, and other crude weapons.

Police in Kisii County have opened an investigation into the matter and launched a search for the suspects.

County police commander Mutungi Musyoki stated that the search for the suspects has been stepped up.

" We are following useful leads and hope to catch up with them soon," Mutungi Musyoki said..
