The British Fashion Council organizes the ceremony, which serves as the primary fundraiser for the BFC's Education Foundation, a charity that promotes design excellence by financially supporting students who have the ability and potential to make an exceptional contribution to the fashion industry.

The first Fashion Awards ceremony, originally known as the British Fashion Awards, took place on October 17, 1989, and was attended by Princess Diana, who wore a Catherine Walker gown specially designed for the occasion.

During this year's awards, many guests and celebrities matched out in elegant and admirable outfits that have left many fans talking. Various people also won awards in the fashion and world industry.

The Queen and Slim actor Jodie Turner-Smith hosted the star-studded ceremony at London's Royal Albert Hall.
Valentino's creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli, was named designer of the year at the 2022 Fashion Awards. This is his second time winning the awards after he won the 2018 awards.

Piccioli is widely credited with increasing demand, particularly among Gen Z, a highly sought-after demographic in the luxury market. Piccioli also collaborated with Pantone to develop a special "Pink PP" shade that can be found on everything from miniature bags to couture gowns, inspiring endless high-street iterations.

Tilda Swinton, Elizabeth Debicki, Golda Rosheuvel, Emma Corrin, Burna Boy, Sam Smith, Paris Jackson, and Ashley Graham were in attendance, as was Bella Hadid via video link.

The event also paid tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II through a segment entitled “the fashion salute show”, featuring London-based brands including Burberry, Alexander McQueen, and Christopher Kane.
