A Form 3 student from Maseno School has succumbed to death from injuries sustained after falling from the second floor of the school’s dormitory.

John Okoth, the vice principal at Maseno School, reported the incident to the police saying that he received the information this morning at around 4 am.

One of the students in form 3 that while the students were about to wake up, he heard something fall from the second story to the ground adjacent to a window where his bed is situated in their school dormitory, making a loud thud noise.

"He rushed out to check what it was and it's then that he noticed that one student 18-year-old had jumped through the window from the 2nd floor of their dorm".

According to the deputy principal, the student called other classmates to assist in saving the life of their classmate.

The student was rushed to the hospital after the incident, however, he passed away while receiving medical care at Kisumu's Aga Khan Hospital.

The student was taken to Coptic hospital in Luanda sub-county but was later rushed to Kisumu's Aga Khan Hospital for further medical care as he had sustained several head injuries. It was at the hospital that the student passed away while in treatment.

According to the police investigation, the student’s desk had a suicide note addressed to his close friend and a fellow student asking him to take possession of his belongings.

"There was an indication that there was some misunderstanding with his parents due to what his closest friend said was the poor performance," the report read in part.

Detectives went to investigate the crime scene and the body was taken to the Aga Khan hospital mortuary for an autopsy to be conducted.
