This tragedy occurs barely a few months after another Gititu mixed secondary school bus in Murang'a was involved in a road accident after the bus they were traveling in was overturned.
According to reports, the bus overturned barely minutes after leaving the school, leaving several pupils with nursing injuries.

Makuyu police chief Alexander Shikondi verified the unfortunate tragedy, stating that the bus driver died on spot. He also stated that the bus lost control during a fast turn, causing it to overturn with students on board.
This comes days after the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) considered plans to implement a new system that would target all motorists in the country.

According to the NTSA, the system's goal is to harmonize and synchronize the digital system under the Transport Integrated Management System in order to give important information about all vehicles.
