Pilot Escape Unhurt as Plane Crashes in Kiambu County

A pilot identified as Captain Leon Juma escaped death on Thursday 3rd  after a plane he was flying from Naivasha to Tatu Airfield Limited Airstrip crashed accidentally.

The aircraft crashed after it developed a mechanical problem, forcing Juma to crash land near Nova Pioneer School in Kiambu County.

Ruiru Police Boss Justus Ombati confirmed the incident stating that the accident involved a Cessna registration number 5Y-CFT.

Tatu Airfield Limited Manager reported the accident to the police who rushed to the scene.

 In a similar case, on Saturday, September 11, 2021, a plane crashed in Kigwandi village, Nyeri County, when it developed technical problems mid-flight, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing.

There were no injuries recorded as a result of the incident. The pilot, who was the only occupant of the plane, was unharmed in the crash.

The pilot was on his way to see a buddy in Mweiga from Timau.

This type of plane disaster is referred to as "controlled flight into terrain" by the International Civil Aviation Organization (CFIT). This refers to planes that have crashed into the earth, water, mountains, or other environments.
