Private Institutions may face a hard time after the state initiated process terminated for the placement of government- sponsored students to the institutions. It is the duty of Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services (KUCCPS) to ensure students are placed in Universities and Colleges. 

According to the 2023-24 budget, the state has announced its straining which has brought about the termination of the exchequer funding for private Universities starting from the next financial year. The announcement might be a defeat to the private institutions. 

The Budget and Appropriations Committee Chairperson Ndindi Nyoro made the announcement, explaining that the state department for Higher Education and research, through KUCCPS  should not place new Government-sponsored students in private Universities. The disbursements are made yearly to help educate the student.
