Joe Mucheru, the Cabinet Secretary for Information and Communications Technology (ICT), was present during the unveiling in Mombasa. As per the CS, the link won't just give Kenyans a speedier web network, but it will likewise bring down the expense of data bundles.

 According to CS Mucheru, Kenya will be associated with Europe and parts of Asia by another fiber-optic association. The cable is known as Pakistan East Africa China Europe cable (PEACE cable).

"This project is important for the country. It allows us to have more capacity and faster connection to Europe and Asia. It's called the PEACE cable and we are happy about this development," CS Mucheru noted.

PEACE cable is the sixth fiber optic cable, and it outperforms the previous five cables in terms of technical specifications.
"This cable is better when compared to the five previous. Each year technology improves immensely and you can't compare to the first cable which was put in place in 2008," CEO Kibati revealed.
The link interfaces France, Pakistan, and Kenya, with aims to extend to South Africa in the subsequent stages.
