Kenyans On Twitter Maintains " Media Is The Root Of Depression In Kenya"

According to the angry citizens, some of the reasons making media source of depression are:

1. Media sells politics because they are after money and know that Kenyans are anxious to get political updates making the Media focus fully on 2022 succession Politics.

as much as we call for freedom of the press, it should come with responsibilities, our media houses are very impartial and constantly used for political gains, they should actually stick to informing and educating the public and always keeping the govt on its toes" one stated.

2. Media encourages murder.

3. Media is promoting sex and alcoholic content.

4. Media gives priority to negative news only. "Our media houses report fearful and sad news every time leaving viewers angry and depressed" they stated.

5. Trending news stories, both fake and real, buy into what's called the attention economy, whereby "if people pay attention to a certain topic, more information on that topic will be produced.

6. Some of these mainstream media are in business. They don't care to do a fact check anymore, provided they sell more papers and get more views.

7. Most media houses in Kenya are hiring Celebes, comedians, who have gained fame overnight coz they have many followers, without necessarily being trained journalists and most of them sneak through radio to the screen." @CharleeOddie1.

The KOT also added that watching the news is like " going for depression", they, therefore, encouraged the parents to protect their children from the "depressing news"

In conclusion, they asked the parliament to review the law guiding the press.
