Speaking at an interview in a local tv station in the country, Karua has said that the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) Coalition failed to achieve its purpose.

Her sentiments came after the other OKA principals signed a coalition agreement with the Azimio la Umoja coalition to form a bigger alliance.

The principals include Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, KANU leader Gideon Moi and Cyrus Jirongo of UDP.

One Kenya Alliance (OKA) was our collaborators for the sole purpose of negotiating together. But our colleagues decided to sign an agreement on their own during the Azimio National Delegates Conference. This means the sole purpose of forming OKA failed on that day. But we are still friends,” Karua said on the interview.

Responding to claims of betrayal, Karua said that the OKA coalition agreement allowed them to leave the coalition at any time and that they did not go against the law.

As NARC-Kenya we cannot hold anyone back. I don't want to use the word betrayal because we all had the freedom to opt in or out of OKA. So, it is their right” Karua added.

Karua will be seeking the Kirinyaga County gubernatorial position and maintains that she is comfortable with at Narc-Kenya party. She however added that she was willing and ready to work with other like-minded leaders for the betterment of the country.

Martha Karua belongs to NARC-Kenya. She is not outside in the rain… She is in a comfortable in a home called NARC-Kenya, there is no deadline for people getting coalitions we can still walk together even with my former OKA team players,” Karua said.

Karua will be facing off the current Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, and the Women representative Wangui Ngirici for gubernatorial elections during the august polls
