On Wednesday, January 26, Keroche attended Deputy President William Ruto's UDA rally in Nakuru County.

The DP utilized the occasion to warmly welcome her, hailing her as a respectable industrialist and capable leader.

Karanja told the crowd in Nakuru that she made the choice after consulting with her people and that she was interested in making the country a business-friendly atmosphere.

"I have listened to you and you have told me that the only vehicle I can use to represent you is UDA. I agree with you.

She also gave credits to Deputy President William Ruto adding that she had been listening to him for twenty-five years.

"To the DP, I have listened to you and I have practiced that for the last twenty-five years and I am a practical example of bottom-up. I ask you when you make the Cabinet, remember the problem businesses have gone through. You should know that we want a conducive environment for businesses. High taxation has brought down companies," she stated.

Kenya’s second-largest beer maker Keroche Breweries Chief Executive Officer Tabitha had resigned from her office duties on Monday 17th to fully participate in her political bid of becoming the next senator for Nakuru County.

On Saturday 15th the renowned businesswoman announced in her office that she will be recruiting her successor from within the firm's hierarchy.

“It now time to concentrate on my political ambition and leave the running of the company to another person,” she said

However she resigned at a time the company had been facing  financial crisis after it defaulted on a tax repayment plan and ran into salary arrears by more than two months.

A source privy to this publication revealed that the company`s genesis of troubles began when It was shut down by Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) authorities in December 2021.

In the latest chapter of the brewer's long-running battle with the taxman, KRA authorities came back to torment the brewer last week after it defaulted on an earlier agreed-upon tax repayment scheme.

Tabitha Karanja, the firm's CEO, said the two-month payment delay was due to cash flow issues but pledged that the management team was working around the clock to pay the employees' dues.
