"My Brother Daddy Owen Chased Me with Panga in 2007 Over Politics" Rufftone Reveals

Celebrated singer Roy Smith Mwita alias Rufftone recalled during the 2007 General Election when he was chased by his blood brother, Daddy Owen, with a panga after they had disagreed over political issues.

He said Owen was a member of the ODM while he was a supporter of the PNU, which was then led by former President Mwai Kibaki.

"I was born in this country in Eastlands and even in 2007, I remember my blood brother was for ODM while I was in PNU. But when we disagreed in the morning, Daddy Owen had to run to the streets with his friends with pangas, seeking to harm me," said Rufftone". He noted.

Rufftone who is currently, vying for the Nairobi senatorial seat in the much-awaited August 9 general stated that he didn't choose  Orange Democratic Movement {ODM} as his political party ticket since  ODM is characterized by hooliganism.

He however opted to duel on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket. 

The singer also added that politics should never let people harm one another.

"When we differ with you politically, you don't have to manifest physically to harm me whether verbal or physical," he stated.

The musician revealed that he joined Deputy President William Ruto's UDA party because of its structures, praising the Tanga Tanga team's bottom-up economic approach as one that will empower young people.
