“We at KRU together with our partners are doing our best to put proper structures in place towards implementing a program that will entail provision of insurance policies and pension schemes to our current and retired players. It’s good for the sport considering the sacrifice involved,” stated Oduor Gangla who is currently the KRU chairman.

The agenda is supposed to provide rugby players mainly those in the national teams with welfare insurance cover as retirement benefits and it’s hoped to be ready in the next few months.

This idea came up after the late former Kenya 7s head coach Benjamin Ayimba was forced to depend on on aids from friends and sympathizers to cater for his amassed medical bill.
