United Democratic Alliance Party`s Paul Chebor emerged as the victor in the Rongai Nakuru County Member Of Parliament race further beating Raymond Moi of the KANU Party.

According to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Paul Chebor alias ‘Mamba’ clinched the seat after garnering 27,021 votes against Moi of KANU who got 14,715 votes.

Since winning the seat in the 2013 elections and successfully defending it in the 2017 elections, Raymond Moi has served the constituency for the past ten years.

With only 593 votes, another former local member, Luca Kigen (2007–2013), who was running for Chama Cha Mashinani, finished in a distant third place.

However, a few minutes before midnight, Chebor, a former MCA, received the certificate after being formally crowned the victor of the postponed election, which saw a decline in voter turnout to 50.20 percent.

The constituency,  has 84 625 registered voters, according to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission - IEBC, but only less than 70 percent of voters' turnout was witnessed.

The Moi family's hegemony in Rift Valley electoral politics comes to an end with Raymond's defeat. This comes after his younger brother Gideon Moi lost the senate election in Baringo to William Cheptumo.

This comes after KANU party leader, Gideon Moi, was also defeated in the Baringo senatorial race.
