The 41-year-old, who will be the first Pole to referee the final, officiated his first World Cup match in 2018 in Russia. He will be joined by assistants Pawel Sokolnicki and Tomasz Listkiewicz.

Qatari Abdulrahman Al Jassim was appointed to referee the third-place match between Croatia and Morocco at the Khalifa International Stadium on Saturday.

He will be assisted by compatriots Taleb Al Marri and Saoud Ahmed Almaqaleh.

It's no wonder that, arguably for the first time since 2006, the Argentines truly believe they can win the World Cup. Not even the Saudi Arabia result changed that.

"It usually doesn't matter how you arrive to these tournaments, but obviously getting there as one of the title contenders and with such a great atmosphere excites the fans," says Lucho.

The World Cup final could be one for the ages and, on the evidence of what we have seen in Qatar, it is too close to call. It could even come down to one moment of genius from the two players most likely to provide it.
