UDA Postpones Nominations in Several Counties.

The Bumula, Turkana Central, and Turkana East elections will be place on Tuesday, April 19, according to the National Elections Board (NEB) Chairman Anthony Mwaura, who gave a media update on the nomination process on Thursday.

In the meantime, the primaries in Mt. Elgon and Kakamega will be held on Friday, April 15.

In Mt. Elgon and Kakamega we are carrying out tomorrow. This affects very few constituencies and county assemblies and as a body we are really pleased with the happenings,” Mwaura said.

Mwaura said the postponement in Mt. Elgon was due to allegations of violence after boisterous teenagers obstructed highways, obstructing cars transporting election materials, and that the modifications in Kakamega were forced by logistical issues.

Mwaura also denied claims that the Kuresoi primaries had been postponed, adding that the William Ruto-led party was proud of how the polls were conducted, despite a few glitches.

No other party is carrying out such nominations,” Mwaura said.

He also dismissed suggestions that phony voting papers had been discovered at polling sites, calling them "unfounded speculations."

There have been allegations of fake ballot papers… those are unfounded rumors we have found none. Our ballot papers are peculiar they have the watermark. They are seriously serialized and nobody can give evidence that they have been found anywhere. They cannot even be photocopied,” Mwaura said.

Aspirants in Bomet County filed rigging claims at Tenwek High School mere hours after the exercise began on Thursday morning, requesting that it be canceled.

The leaders, led by former KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion, claimed they were able to get access to insecure vote boxes and marked ballot papers at Tenwek, raising questions about the region's party primaries' integrity.UDA
