The Security Forces, after giving the bandits a 48-hour warning to vacate, went ahead and bombed the valley in a bid to deal with them. The attack happened yesterday at 6 am. The bandits have been terrorizing the inhabitats of Baringo valley, coming in the dead of the night and making away with their livestocks. In some cases, they have caused loss of lives.

The netizens have mixed feelings about this. A few are in support of the act. They applaud the move, seeing that there has been an increased rise of attacks from the bandits and loss of lives. They are of the opinion that dealing with them mercilessly is the only way to discourage them from going on with their illegal activities.

Others are pointing out how pointless the entire operation was seeing that 48 hours had elapsed since the warning, wondering whether the bandits would’ve still been around. They reason that the bandits had already vacated the premises and therefore the entire operation was a wastage of ammunation.

Others are criticising the bombing action calling it a crime agaist the environment. The bombs destroyed vegetation and most likely led to the death of wildlife. They suggest that it would have made more sense to go in with less destructive weapons and flush the bandits out if there were still around, apprehend, and have them court-alligned.

Was the bombing the right move of dealing with people with simple guns, some ask?
