Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen made a fantastic save preventing Sergio Escudero from scoring and thus first half ended with a 1-0 result. Sevilla`s midfielder into the 2nd half affirmed the victory with a thumping finish into the roof of the net at the 85th minute making it a 2-0 result.

Barcelona complained that they should have been granted a penalty after Jordi Alba was tripped on the edge of the area but the referee awarded a free-kick without checking the VAR to confirm where the foul had taken place. Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman stated that it was a harsh result for them considering the performance they displayed on the pitch.

Sevilla`s Kounde congratulated the team for the amazing performance and admitted that they faced difficulties on the pitch moreso in the 2nd half but they stuck to the coach`s plan and everything paid out.

Lionel Messi could have secured a goal but was denied the chance by Sevilla goalkeeper Bono. Barcelona beat Sevilla 5-0 in the final 3 years ago and this game was seen as positive revenge in the world of football.
