Ronald Koeman woos continue as 'Los Blancos' march past Blaugrana at the Camp Nou.
Real Madrid's David Alaba celebrates his opener in the El Clasico against Barcelona. Real Madrid won the game 2-1.

The game was off to a slow start as both teams struggled to break down the other. Barcelona initially controlled the game with the lion share of possession but failed to trouble Belgium and Madrid shot stopper Thibaut Courtois.

Ansu Fati troubled the visitors and almost registered an assist had Sergino Dest not fluffed his shot by sending the ball blazing over the bar. The Catalaonian side's wastefulness would prove to be theor undoing as they fell to a quick counter before Half-time. Brazilian talented duo Vinicius and Rodrygo worked the ball with speed to David Alaba and the Austrian captain fired his shot into the top right corner from the penalty area beating Marc Andrè ter Stegen.

Barca coach Ronald Koeman was already under enormous pressure since the beginning of this season as he would become only the second manager to lose his first 3 El Clasicos needed his side to pull off a mesmerizing display to nullify the 'Los Blancos' threat.

Last season outcast Philipe Coutinho was introduced to add attacking firepower to the hosts and he almost made immediate impact as his effort was blocked meanwhile Courtois saved Fati's effort.

'Merengues' had a point to prove specifically Carlo Ancelotti as he strived to secure his first win in five Camp Nou visits. Gerrard Piquè believed he should have been awarded a penalty but his shouts were all in vain as Madrid raced up the other half of the pitch to put a result on the scoreboard in the 90+4th min with Vazquèz doing just that via a tap-in.

Blaugrana responded 3 mins later but it was too little too late as substitute Sergio Aguero gave his side the consolation goal.

The result means that Barca have lost 3 back-to-back El Clasicos for the first time since 1935 as Ronald Koemans days at the helm continue to be put to question.

Meanwhile Real Madrid's victory sees them evade being leapfrogged for the time being as they have gone 5 points clear of the Blaugrana.
