Late Olympian Agnes Tirop Laid to Rest
Agnes Tirop, a late Kenyan long-distance runner, has been laid to rest at her parents' home in Nandi County.
Her burial comes at a time she would be celebrating her 26th birthday on Saturday 23th October.
According to Athletics Kenya Agnes was found dead at their home on Wednesday 13th in Iten Elgeyo Marakwet County.
She was found with stab wounds in her abdomen and neck.
“Tirop was found dead at their home in Iten after she was allegedly stabbed by her husband. We are still working to unearth more details surrounding her demise.”

Ibrahim Rotich, her husband, was the main suspect and was detained and charged.
Athletics Kenya also further added that “Kenya has lost a jewel who was one of the fastest-rising athletics giants on the international stage, thanks to her eye-catching performances on the track.”
Tirop before her death she had set a new world record in the women's only 10-kilometer road race in Germany last month, crossing the finish line in 30:01, shaving 28 seconds off the previous mark set by Morocco's Asmae Leghzaoui in 2002.
