Phoenix Suns beat Denver Nuggets 122-105 in their first game of Western Conference Series on Tuesday.

Chris Paul, who was Suns star, scored 21 points with 6 rebounds and 11 assists to help Suns overcome Nuggets. Denver Booker added 23 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assist in the victory.

The losing Nuggets star of the day Nicola Jokic managed 22 points and 9 rebounds to add to their tally but was not enough to seal a win.

Paul went scoreless in the opening period but made a tree-pointer in the second quarter then a turn around.

Things were not rosy for Suns as they trailed for the better part of first half. They salvaged themselves and by the start of the third quarter, they were 10 points behind and came back to the lead in the late third. When the game went to the fourth quarter, they were leading with 88-79.

Paul made a struck in the fourth quarter to put the Suns 94-79 with 10:25 left. The Suns managed to keep the heat on and lead with 102-84 with 8:36 left through Paul’s three-point play and a three-pointer and Cameron Payne an alley-oop to Torrey Craig for a ferocious dunk.

Crowder later knocked down a three-pointer to make it 114-97 with 3:34 left. Deandre Ayton had another impressive game finishing with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Nuggets Aaron Gordon had 18 points while Michael Porter Jr. added 15.

The second game of the series will be played in Phoenix on Thursday, 10 June at 04:30 am EAT.
