Martha Karua Joins Azimio La Umoja

Speaking at the official signing of the Azimio la Umoja coalition agreement at the Serena hotel in Nairobi, Karua has announced her support for the Azimio la Umoja presidential flagbearer Raila Amollo Odinga.

“I’m here to confirm that from now onwards NARC-Kenya and I are supporting the Azimio Presidential Candidate the Right Honorable Raila Odinga.” Karua said.   

Speaking at the same event, Karua has said that her decision was reached without any threats adding that her party has been looking for leaders who have demonstrated integrity over time.  

“I have said time and again and NARC -Kenya believes in this that as we move forward, we must look for leaders who have a demonstrated track record of being selfless and putting the interest of the nation above theirs. People who can fulfill promises.” Karua added

Karua further stated that as it is, there is no side without bad people however adding that she was able to identify masses of good people within the Azimio side.

“All sides have people who may have looted, all sides who do not believe in the rule of the and yet all sides have people who are good I have been looking keenly and without so much struggle to identify without much struggle to identify a critical mass of good people within the Azimio Coalition.” Karua stated.

On his part, Odinga has welcomed Karua to the Azimio Coalition stating their long journey in the second liberation terming to Karua as his comrade.

“We have agreed that the time has come again for us to come together. The march of the Nile is unstoppable and so is the movement of the people of Kenya to liberate this country.” Odinga said

In the recent past, Karua had hinted out to joining the Azimio la Umoja after her former coalition co – principals left the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) to join the Azimio Coalition
