It is very sad that the Lake Olbolosat, which was once the emblem of Nyandarua county is at the verge of being forgotten. Rumors of the lake drying up might be true with only some parts of it remaining. The only trace of it is the traces of water near Thomsons falls hippos joint.
The lake was once shelter for hippos and the grey crowned cranes. With it drying up, such anymals` lives are in great danger. The tourist attraction sight has only remained with dry cracks and memories.
To mark rhe International day of Forest,, the Lake Ol Bolossat community conservation group-loccog has launched 3 tree nurseries in effortsto raise indegeneous seedling.
Mama Rachael Ruto, had also earlier last week enhanced tree planting across all counties.While in a meeting with governors and their spouces, the first lady discussed the project whereby more than 500 million trees will be planted.
Planting of trees is considered the best way to preserve water catchment areas.
