Mary had been appointed by the then Labour Cabinet Secretary, Ukur Yatani. She was appointed as the Chairperson of the National Employment Authority (NEA) and her name was azetted.

Sakaja, who was the chairperson of the Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association. At the time, Sakaja was invested in the organization's leadership since NEA's founding was a result of a Bill he had tabled in Parliament while serving as an MP.

"I have further instructed my lawyers as well as those of the Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association to file a petition this (Thursday) morning seeking to quash this appointment.

"The respondents of this suit are the Cabinet Secretary of Labour, the Attorney General, and (Ms. Wambui),” Sakaja told the press in October 2019.

It is believed that Wambui's appointment was immediately stopped by the Employment Court pending the outcome of the petition.

The former lawmaker's appointment was canceled by the same court in January 2020, citing her failure to meet the qualifications required of an occupant of the office.
The court also stated that Wambui's appointment was illegal and handled in an improper manner.

Real Karma?

Currently, the senator is vying for the Nairobi gubernatorial position seeking to unseat the current Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu Mwenda. However, degree qualifications have been the center of attention.

In a viral interview on social media, Sakaja is heard saying he has never gone outside Kenya for studies.

In 2022 Sakaja claimed that he graduated from Team University in Uganda. He even stated that he graduated from the University of Nairobi where he pursued actual science.

This claim was later refuted by the UON stating that indeed the politician was a student at the institution but had not yet graduated as he said.

In a cold fight that has now involved senator johnson Sakaja and the independent and electoral and boundaries commission, he has termed the petition as malicious and aimed at soiling his reputation.
