Form Two Twin Boys Reported Missing In Embu County

Ryan Mwenda of Kangaru Boys High School and Leon Macharia of Moi High School are twins both fifteen years old and form two students at their respective schools.

According to their mother Naisera Muthoni, the boys were getting ready to return to school after the one-week break, when she noticed they had vanished from the home.

The mother, a teacher at Nyangwa Boys High School attempted to search for them in the nearby area by driving around looking for them but was unsuccessful.

"I did not see anything abnormal right from morning when we woke up and began preparing for school. They were okay," Muthoni noted.

She did, however, point out that her twin boys had asked why they were attending different schools and wanted to attend the same secondary school.

“They have not had any indiscipline cases, and even the issue of schooling together cropped up this term, and I had not imagined it could escalate to a level of them leaving home,” added Muthoni.

According to the boy’s mother, since the twins have always been together and done everything together since they were young, it was decided that they should attend separate secondary schools in order to assist instill and develop individual character and personality.

On the day of their disappearance, Muthoni claimed to have given each boy Ksh1,000 as pocket money, which they may have used to get about the town.

“I was told by boda-boda riders in area that the boys were seen around, and were asking to be dropped at the Embu Town bus terminus, where they would board Nairobi bound matatus,” said Muthoni.

The incident was reported at Itabua Police station and is being investigated.
