Footballer Mason Greenwood Arrested Amid Rape & Domestic Violence Assault

Manchester United`s footballer Mason Greenwood was arrested on Sunday 30th January following a sexual assault and domestic violence accusation from a woman identified as Harriet Robson who is believed to be his girlfriend.

Manchester United announced on Sunday 30th that Greenwood, 20, will not play or train until further notice as the police establish the full circumstances around images and an audio file that circulated on social media on Sunday.

"Mason Greenwood will not return to training or play matches until further notice."

Manchester Greater police also issued an update on the same issue noting that the matter had been brought to their attention.

"Greater Manchester Police were made aware earlier today (Sunday 30 January) of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence. An investigation was launched and following inquiries, we can confirm a man in his 20s has since been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault. He remains in custody for questioning. Inquiries are ongoing."

United had previously stated that they would begin their own inquiry before announcing Greenwood's suspension in a statement released on Sunday morning.
"We are aware of photographs and allegations circulating on social media," the statement added.
We will not make any additional statements until the facts are known. Manchester United does not tolerate any form of violence."
The Premier League team issued the statement in response to allegations made in photographs and audio that have since been removed from a woman's Instagram account.
