Benfica down Barcelona as Koeman woos continue
Benfica player's celebrate their 3-0 win over Barcelona in the CL group stage tie last night.

Darwin Nűñez masterclass on either side of HT ensured Benfica a 3-0  victory over Catalonia giants Barcelona.

Barcelona having lost their first CL match for the first time since 1978 would have hoped for a better start when Darwin Nűñez danced past Eric Garcia, left the defender for dead with a double stepover before slotting his fifth goal of the season past a shaky Andre Ter Stegen.

Barcelona has been in the limelight recently following their poor performances and bad internal leadership however the goal didn't do them any good as they looked rattled from the get-go.

Ronald Koemans job only got worse as he had to suboff skipper Gerrard Piquè as the Spaniard was likely to receive his marching orders if he stayed any longer as he was already booked with a yellow. This change however bore no fruit as the Eagles added 2 more goals past a shaky Barcelona backline.

Barcas night went from bad to worse as Rafa Silva tapped home from close range after a rebound fell upon him. Nűñez added his second from the spot ensuring Benfica have an easy time qualifying for bext stage.

The result leaves Koemans men at the bottom of the groupand he became the first manager to record back to back CL games without registering a single shot on target. Should he retain his seat in two weeks time he'll be without Eric Garcia who received his marching orders later on.
