This comes as sources close to President Uhuru Kenyatta have told journalists that the State Department of Public Works is "prepared" to send a vacate notice to Ruto and his family in order to allow for "renovations" at the Karen mansion.

According to insiders, the "renovations" are being done in preparation for the next tenant of the DP's office.

Uhuru's allies claim that the Jubilee government, which Ruto helped form in 2013 and 2017, has had enough of Ruto’s criticism and that it is time he vacates his Karen residence and foregoes the perks and benefits that come with his position, citing the DP's recent comments on the "artificial fuel crisis," in which the DP linked the ongoing shortage to the work of "cartels and State barons."

According to DP's detractors, he should resign from the government and assume full responsibility as opposition leader alongside his Kenya Kwanza colleague.

There are individuals in this country who are trying to get mileage out of small crises that we have thinking they are not part of the Government when they are actually at the helm earning salaries and enjoying privileges,” Fatuma Dullo said.

Ruto’s allies according to Dullo, should neither criminalize or accuse the Jubilee administration of illegally acquiring political mileage.

Nominated Senator Farhiya Ali echoed her comments, saying she finds it remarkable that someone (Ruto) would want to take advantage of the perks and rewards that come with his position but refuse to take responsibility for the same government's failings and triumphs.

Every time somebody says the Jubilee Government has done this or that--- I know my President has done a good job for this country. When people blame him, the same people should take responsibility to be part of that blame,” she said.

You cannot lie to Kenyans today and change the following day because it is convenient for you. Kenyans are not foolish; they can see through lies,” she added.

Nyamira Senator Okong'o Omogeni, a Raila supporter, said the country's problem is that there are those in administration who want to act like they're in the opposition.

It is a shame! Today, he is in Karen as the Deputy President chairing IBEC meeting. Tomorrow, you will find him in a rally saying he is a member of the opposition and blaming the Government. We cannot solve problems that way,” said Omugeni.
