UDM Party Endorses Raila As Its Presidential Candidate

The United Democratic Movement party has unanimously endorsed ODM party leader Raila Odinga as its preferred presidential candidate in the coming polls.

The endorsement was announced during the party’s National Delegates Convention that was held at the Bomas of Kenya earlier today.

The Ali Roba led party endorsed Raila in a statement that was read by the party's lawyer Issa Mansur.

UDM national delegates conference endorses Raila Odinga as the presidential candidate for the party in the 2022 General elections,” read Issa Mansur.

Speaking after the endorsement, Raila promised the Northern Eastern region that once he clinches into power, he will make the region a global livestock market.

Among other issues that Odinga promised the region include dealing with drought issues, promoting their livestock breeds and buying meat and milk from the community.

The former prime minister, highlighting problems that affected the region such as drought, famine, poverty and floods, said that once elected president, he would change the narrative in the region.

Speaking on devolution, Odinga said that devolution was a key aspect of the constitution, adding that his government would ensure that regional development is achieved to promote the development of local residents.

Among other leaders who accompanied Odinga to the NDC include Kitui Governor, Charity Ngilu, and his Laikipia counterpart, Nderitu Muriithi.
