Train crushes into soda truck
On Wednesday a Nanyuki train hit a soda truck at the train crossing in Karatina.

People passing by stole crates of sodas as others watched. By the time the press got there was no police officer in sight. The cause of the accident had also not been established but this is not the first time an accident has occurred on this route. In June 2021, a train traveling from Nanyuki to Nairobi caught fire mid-journey at Kabuta village in Kiharu. Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) said that the fire was caused by an electric fault in the train's engine.
A recent survey by NTSA shows a rise in cases of road accidents in 2021, compared to last year. Fatalities had increased by 25 percent as of September 20, 2021.
