Mukami Kimathi, Wife To The Late Freedom Fighter Dedan Kimathi Passes On.

Mukami Kimathi was the wife to the late freedom fighter for Kenya,field Marshal Dedan Kimathi. The 96 years old Mukami Kimathi was rushed to the Nairobi Hospital on 4th May after developing breathing difficulties.  Her demise was confirmed by her daughter Evelyn Kimathi Wangui.

"Yes she is dead and Kenyans are impatient. They have been calling all night to know her situation. The president will make an official announcement of her death," Evelyn said

According to her Evelyn, Mukmami`s last wish was that the remains of her husband be taken from the Kamiti prion and be burried elsewhere. Mukaminhad also mentioned the same earlier this year when Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua visited her in the hospital. She said all she wished was to give Kimathi a befitting sendoff. While in that sick state, president William Ruto had assisted to clear the 1.3million hospital bill. 

During her time, Mukami was successfull in planning tribal dances which brought together both men and women.

Dedan Kimathi was a veteran freedom fighter in Kenya and was among the Mau Mau freedom fighters who were detained at the Kamiti Maximum Prison at the time when he was fighting for Independence
