The man was killed in a residential estate of Pioneer in the Uasin Gishu’s capital after several days of trailing by police officers.

According to the Kapseret Sub County Police Commander Ken Odhiambo, the suspect is a notorious criminal, believed to be part of a gang that has been terrorizing locals.

Odhaino says they have been trailing the suspect for months.

“We have managed to kill a notorious criminal that we have looking for since March this year. He has been staging robbery in a number of areas in this region including Nandi, Uasin Gishu, Kakamega and Trans Nzoia counties,” the Sub County Police boss told journalists.

“He has been on our radar but somehow kept dodging our officers while going into hiding in Ruiru and Nairobi,” he added.

Odhiambo linked the killed suspect to a recent robbery incident at Asmara club in Kapsoya estate within the Eldoret Municipality.

He said after police cornered him at a house in Pioneer estate, he tried to shot at them leading to a gunfire that left the suspect dead.

“We found him with a Hi Powered Browning pistol armed with two rounds of ammunition. His journey now ends in the mortuary,” the police boss said.

No police officer was injured during the incident.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, even as the police issued a warning shot to other criminal organizations in the area.

“We have no place for thugs in this area. Our officers are tactical and anyone that threatens peace and harmony of the locals and businesspersons will be dealt with,” noted the Kapseret Sub County Police Commander.
