School Calendar Set to Return to Normalcy

According to the Ministry of Education's new calendar, the 2023 academic year will now resume the normal schedule that was disrupted by the pandemic outbreak.

According to a notice made on November 7, Education PS Julius Jwan stated that schools would return to the normal calendar that former Education Cabinet Secretary, George Magoha changed in 2020.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, the ministry of education has been attempting to make up lost time in order to achieve the deadlines established 
All students will be reporting to school on January 23 and term one will end on April 21 after 13 weeks.

The second term will begin on May 8 and conclude on August 11.

Between June 29 and July 2, students will have a three-day half-term break thereafter, they will take the end-of-term two holiday from August 12 to August 27 before reopening for the third term.

The final term of 2023 will begin on August 28 and end on November 3, with students taking KCPE exams for four days between November 6 and November 9.

According to the new calendar, Form 4 candidates who will be taking the KCSE are expected to write their exams between November 10 and December 1.

On the other hand, training colleges, whose first terms began on August 29 and ended on December 2, will begin their second terms on January 23, 2023, and will end on April 21, 2023.

Term two will last 13 weeks, from January 23 to April 21, 2023, before students take a two-week break from April 22 to May 7, 2023.

Term three will begin on May 8, 2023, and end on August 11, 2023, followed by a three-week break from August 12, 2023, to September 1, 2023.
