Raila to Appear before NCIC when he Returns from His UK Tour

NCIC boss Samuel Kobia said on Friday that Raila will appear before the commission after his trip to the United Kingdom.

"Once he comes back, we will be in touch and talk things out," Kobia said.

Kobia said Raila is a law-abiding leader and said in spite of his position, he apologized publicly.

The NCIC boss said they are in talks with inter-religious councils to spread messages of peace ahead of the August elections.

"NCIC has declared an out all war against hate speech. We are monitoring TV and online. We need to ensure that evidence gathering is done quickly and swiftly," Kobia said.

In his defense, Raila said he was misunderstood for his madoadoa remark. He spoke during a rally in Kisumu where he also issued an apology on the same.

NCIC wants Raila to explain in which context he used the term madoadoa during the Azimio la Umoja rally in Wajir.

In a campaign rally in Wajir, Raila told residents to back the Azimio la Umoja movement candidates only in the forthcoming general elections slated for August 9.

He said that the movement has many parties that have come together to unite the country, hence, the need to vote for them.
