Radio Africa to Countersue Shaffie Weru for Sh.150 Million Breach of Contract

Media personality Shaffie Weru’s former employer Radio Africa has responded to his demand letter and indicated that it would countersue him for sh.150 million breaches of contract.

Former HomeBoyz radio through his lawyers had demanded to be paid Sh. 21,157, 500 for unfair and unlawful termination of his contract.

Radio Africa company has now responded to Shaffie Weru’s demands saying that it would also sue him for breach of contract and negligence.

The company argued that it had suffered a loss of business and reputational damage to the company’s brand.

"Including a very recent training by the Media Council of Kenya in February 2021 which covered: Ethics and Code of Conduct, Fake news and Fact-checking, Interview skills, Conflict Sensitive Journalism, Hate Speech Dilemma in media, On-air presentation skills," the company stated.

The company said Shaffie Weru had contravened its policies and his employment contract which had led to the termination of his services.

Radio Africa Company terminated Shaffie Weru together with his two co-hosts after they were accused of uttering insensitive statements on a lady who was sexually abused.
