President William Ruto has tasked 49 people with assessing the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) before submitting the final results for consideration.

The taskforce’s job will be to conduct assessments and make recommendations for the best structures to use in CBC.

"It is notified for the general information of the public that William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya has appointed a working party on education reform," a gazette notice read in part.

The task group will be required to conduct a summative evaluation of the CBC, research the laws controlling the basic education subsector, and offer recommendations for revisions to these laws to address duplication, ambiguities, efficiency issues, and strengthening links.

Raphael Munavu will serve as the chairman of the task force team which has also been entrusted with evaluating the framework for the examination as well as the framework for preservice and in-service teacher preparation.

Ruto gave the working group further instructions to look at the general school administration and the policies for teachers' deployment.

Vice-chancellors Gitahi Kiama, Paul Wainaina, and former head of a private school Mutheu Kasanga will be among the team's 42 members, who will be served by 7 secretaries.

Additionally, according to the notice, the secretaries are Patita Tingoi, Elyas Abdi, Eunice Gachoka, Jackson Too, Richard Miano, Reuben Nthamburi, and KNEC CEO David Njengere.
