President Uhuru Mourns the Death of Queen Elizabeth II
President Uhuru Kenyatta has joined other world leaders today in mourning Queen Elizabeth II's death. President Uhuru mourned Queen Elizabeth II as a global icon.
Uhuru stated that the sad news of Queen Elizabeth II's death was received with great sorrow and a deep sense of loss and that the People and Government of the Republic of Kenya stand in solidarity with the Royal Family, the United Kingdom, and the rest of the world in mourning the departed monarch.
"Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was a towering icon of selfless service to humanity and a key figurehead of not only the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth of Nations where Kenya is a distinguished member but the entire world," President Uhuru stated.

According to the information given by the royal family, Queen Elizabeth II died at Balmoral aged 96, after reigning for 70 years. She passed on September 8 afternoon at her Scottish estate, where she had spent much of the summer.

With her death, the queen’s eldest son Charles will now become Britain’s new king, taking the title King Charles III.
