English Premier League players will be wearing black armbands and there will be a minute of silence before kick-off at all Premier League matches played tonight and across the weekend in order to show respect to the fallen Duke of Edinburgh.

The Premier League made the communication through their official Twitter page minutes after the demise of Prince Philip.

Premier League players will therefore wear black armbands and they will be observing a minute of silence before the kick-off of all Premier League matches.

The Duke of Edinburgh died at the age of 99 years though he never showed any sign of sickness.
