Former Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has confirmed a dramatic return to Parma 20 years after he left the club in 2001 to join Juventus.

Buffon made 220 appearances and won 3 trophies for Parma between 1995-2001 when he left for Juventus to replace Edwin Van Der Sar.

But now in an impressive announcement released, the legendary Italian goalkeeper has joined Parma where it all began 26 years.

The legendary goalkeeper is believed to have turned down La Liga’s giants Barcelona in order to sign a 2-year deal with Serie B club which could see Buffon playing until he is 45.

Buffon also chooses to stay in Italy for family reasons and he is now targeting Parma promotion back to Serie A.

Buffon also received interest from Besiktas in Turkey but he decided to remain in his native country.

Buffon won 10 Serie A titles and 5 Coppa Italias in 684 appearances with Juventus.
