Former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale has dropped his gubernatorial ambitions in favor of the current Senator Malala.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Deputy President William Ruto’s official Karen office, Khalwale has confirmed his move saying that it was for the common good of his community and the rest of the country.  

“I am presenting myself as the candidate in 2022 for the position of the senator for the county of Kakamega.” Khalwale said.

Today I’m pleased to inform the rest of the country, that you aren’t seen nothing yet, I have not stepped down, in fact, I have stepped up so that I focus more on the common agenda that covers our people and also the rest of the Kenyans.” Khalwale added 

On his part, Malala thanked the Kenya Kwanza leadership for having confidence in him promising that he will work to ensure that the coalition gets the Seat.

With a lot of humility, I wish to accept the nomination and the endorsement for me to run as governor for Kakamega County.” Malala said.

On his part Deputy President William Ruto, said that after extensive discussions in their Kenya Kwanza alliance, they have agreed to work together to deliver to the people of Kenya. The second in command has also expressed his confidence in Kakamega being inside of the Kenya kwanza coalition.

“We are very clear in our minds that Kakamega is going to be a Kenya Kwanza County.”  Ruto said.

The Deputy President also thanked the two leaders for their sacrifice to work together for the betterment of the county.

I want to thank these two leaders, especially the honorable Boni Khalwale, and we have agreed that his sacrifice will not go unrewarded.” Ruto added.

Other leaders present at the Karen Press briefing include, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Ford-Kenya leader Moses Wetangula and MPs allied to the deputy president.
