Kenyan Youtube Content Creators to Pocket Sh 1 Million Monthly

Kenyan YouTubers in the entertainment industry can now smile.

Kenyan Youtube Content Creators to Pocket Sh 1 Million Monthly

This follows YouTube's announcement that content creators will now be paid up to Sh1.1 million per month for using Shorts, the company's short video-making feature.

The move is intended to entice creators to upload more short videos on the site.
This comes just two months after the app introduced Shorts in July, allowing users to share short movies.

This is the first time YouTube has established a fund to directly compensate producers, especially in Kenya.

The platform has already been implemented in the United Kingdom, the United States, India, South Africa, and Nigeria. Kenya now has access to the fund.

“Creators can receive up to Sh1.1 million ($10,000) based on viewership and engagement of the content of their short. To qualify, channels must meet the minimum eligibility requirements refreshed each month to give other creators the opportunity to receive a reward for their creative and unique Shorts,” Youtube said in a statement.

However, the remuneration will be determined by a variety of factors, including the location and popularity of the films. The videos must be unique and free of watermarks from services like TikTok, Reels, or Snapchat.
