Kanye West Changes his Name to Ye

Kanye West, the rapper who was formerly known as Kanye Omari West has changed his name to Ye.

Kanye West Changes his Name to Ye

This is after a Los Angeles judge granted the rapper's name change request, a communications officer at the Los Angeles Superior Court confirmed.

He had earlier filed the request in August, citing "personal reasons."

West had used the new name Ye on his 2018 album as the title.

Shortly after the album's release, he tweeted: "The being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE."

Now that he's made it public, Kanye Omari West is no longer his full name.

As of Tuesday, his Instagram account and website were still using his former name, despite the fact that his Twitter handle had already been changed to Ye.

The new moniker has religious significance for the star, as well as being a shorter form of Kanye.

"I believe 'ye' is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible, it means you. So, it's I'm you, I'm us, it's us," he said in a 2018 interview with radio host Big Boy.

"It went from being Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, our everything." He stated.
