Didmus Barasa, a member of parliament for Kimilili, has suffered yet another setback as a result of the Independent and Boundaries Commission's (IEBC) refusal to provide his representatives with the election certificate.

IEBC Withholds Barasa`s Certificate

George Omondi, the returning officer for the Kimilili constituency, insisted that the MP, who has been hiding for the past 24 hours, physically appear at the tallying center.

Barasa secured his seat on a UDA ticket after  Kimilili residents re-elected him again.

He expressed gratitude to the constituents for granting him an opportunity to continue serving them.

"Thank you, the great people of KIMILILI CONSTITUENCY, for re-electing me overwhelmingly for another term. I LOVE YOU TO BITS," he wrote.

In a disturbance at one of the polling places in his district, Barasa is accused of killing the assistant of his opponent.

On Wednesday 10th, a police report indicated that troubles escalated when DAP-Kenya party candidate Brian Khaemba visited the Chebukwabi polling station to witness the counting of votes.

He arrived at the polling place with his assistant and driver, and when he went inside, he ran into the Kimilili constituency's sitting MP.

Khaemba is believed to have chosen to leave the station after supervising the exercise, but police claim that Barasa followed him along with four other unidentified individuals and told Khaemba and his team not to go.

Joshua Nasokho, Khaemba's driver, disobeyed the instruction and allegedly fired a shot at Brian Olunga, Khaemba's aide, as he was ready to leave the polling place.

"Hon. Didmus Barasa withdrew a pistol and aimed at Mr. Khaemba's aide namely Brian Olunga and shot him on the forehead where profusely bled," the police report read.

Olunga died from his injuries while receiving treatment at the Kimilili sub-county hospital after being taken there.

However,  in the latest reports sourced by this publication, the police have been instructed to take the incoming UDA MP into custody by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji.
