IEBC Officially Gazettes Dr. William Ruto as Kenya’s President-Elect
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has officially gazetted William Ruto as the President-elect of the Republic of Kenya.

In the notice dated August 16, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati has also gazetted Rigathi Gachagua as the Deputy President-elect.
This follows the events of Monday, where Ruto was announced as the winner of the hotly contested August 9, General election.
William Ruto garnered 7,176,141 votes, against his close rival Raila Odinga who received 6,942,930 votes which is 48.85 percent of the vote.
Of the 47 counties, Ruto garnered more than 25 percent of the votes cast in 39, exceeding the minimum 24 counties required by the Constitution. Raila achieved 25 percent of the votes cast in 34 counties.
This comes even as four IEBC commissioners have disputed the presidential election results.
The four led by commissioner Juliana Cherera said they cannot take ownership of the results because of the opaque nature they have been handled.
"We have done the 2022 general election in the most efficient manner. We have ensured that all the challenges have been contained... We have made sure that we have improved the standards and we say as a fact, as commissioners we have done a good job.
"But some things need to be put out there as you can see the four of us are here and not at Bomas where the results are going to be announced because of the opaque nature of how this phase has been handled," Cherera said.
"We therefore cannot take ownership of this result that is going to be announced," she added.
The IEBC chairperson was flanked by three of her colleagues Francis Wanderi, Irene Masit and Justus Nyang'aya.
