Hubby to Slain Olympian Agnes Tirop Arrested

The suspected killer alleged to be the husband of Agnes Tirop, the long-distance runner who was recently stubbed to death at her home in Iten Elgeyo Marakwet County has been arrested.

The killer identified as Emmanuel Rotich who has been on the run with police on a hot trail was nabbed in Changamwe, Mombasa County on Thursday 14th October.

According to Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti, Rotich was arrested while on the run.

"He is in custody and he was arrested while fleeing," George Kinoti.

Kinoti also added that Rotich was expected to appear in court on Friday, adding: "He will face charges once investigations are completed."

This comes at a time, Athletics Kenya said It was postponing events for two weeks in memory of Tirop and another runner who died in an apparent suicide over the weekend.

Athletics Kenya president Jackson Tuwei said Tirop's death was a "huge blow" to athletics, describing her as "one of the fastest rising stars" and voicing hope for speedy justice.
