Fire Burns Down A Kirinyaga School Dormitory

The dormitory of Kirinyaga Seventeen Day Adventist Primary School burned down in the early-morning fire that happened around 7 am on Thursday.

Area residents struggled to extinguish the fire for hours before they finally succeeded. They used soil, water, and twigs to put out the fire that was spreading quickly.

The residents urged the police to investigate the matter thoroughly as they believed the fire was started on purpose.

Among the property destroyed included the students' beds, blankets, uniforms, shoes, and bags.

According to Edward Ndirangu, the head of Kirinyaga East police, the students were not in the dormitory when the fire started.

"The pupils had left the dormitory when the incident happened," Ndirangu said.

The head of the police force claimed that it was impossible to determine the source of the fire right away.

" We have commenced investigations with a view of establishing whether it is an arson attack or not," said the police head.
