Damaris Muthee Mutua has been named as an upcoming athlete. She is a Kenyan who was competing for a foreign country.

She was allegedly slain by Koki Fai, an Ethiopian athlete who supposedly fled the country following the crime.

Her body was discovered in the man's house on the outskirts of town, Lillys Estate.

After the alleged killer called from outside the nation to confess he had committed the murder, fellow athletes alerted the authorities.

Police have cordoned off the area and are examining the circumstances surrounding the murder.

Tom Makori, the police chief of Keiyo North, is in charge of a squad of officers on the site.

The athlete who ran for Kenya in 2015 had won several awards, including the Marrakesh Marathon in October 2018 and the 10Km Casablanca Memorial in 2018.

She also competed in the Maputo half marathon in 2018 and the Agadir Marathon in Morocco in 2017, finishing in second place.

She held Bahraini citizenship and is reported to have been 28 years old at the time of her death.

This comes just a few months after Agnes Tirop, a local athlete, was assassinated in the same town in October.
