DP Ruto Expected to Hold A Rally at Uhuru’s Backyard.
Ruto addresses a private sector meeting in Nairobi yesterday.

This comes days after the Deputy president was crowned as UDA’s presidential candidate on the 15th of march 2022.

Ruto is expected to be accompanied by other leaders including the host, Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria, ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi, FORD Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula among other leaders allied to the deputy president

Ruto, who previously used to spare Kenyatta has in the recent past been hitting out to the president blaming him of sabotaging the economy after the handshake.

Ruto’s decision to take his campaigns to the president’s village has been seen by many as a political plan to battle the president in his own backyard.

The second in command had in his earlier rallies said that he respects the president’s decision to support Ruto's competito, ODM leader Raila Odinga, although the president should not force his preferred candidate to the people but rather allow them to choose the leader they want.

Ruto’s campaign comes at a time when most of the president’s allies from the region have decamped from the jubilee party to join Ruto’s UDA party.

The latest to decamp from the region was Kiambu senator Kimani Wamatangi, who was later dewhipped as senate’s majority whip after he joined William Ruto’s UDA party.

Other leaders from the region who have said that they would support Ruto’s presidential bid include Moses Kuria, Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and Tujibebe Wananchi party leader William Kabogo.
