Prof Magoha was speaking while commissioning the CBC junior classroom in Githinja secondary school Muranga County earlier today.

The CS further indicated that the government is keen to ensure that the CBC dream is achieved and learners benefit fully from the curriculum amid criticism from other education stakeholders.

According to the CS Magoha he asserted that Meru County is leading the construction by 100%

“‘construction of CBC classrooms across the country is at 75% completion. Meru County leading at 100%’’ said Magoha.

The Ministry of Education is traversing the country to inspect the ongoing constructions of classrooms across all the counties as preparation for the roll out of the new  curriculum.

There has been a lot of criticism from  the education stakeholders and in an interview by the former KNUT  secretary general Wilson Sossion had said that the CBC is far from actualization as it is not teacher centered and teachers were never involved in its process yet they were the key drivers of the curriculum.

“ This is a far -fetched dream. If South Africa tried and failed, Britain, were never successful, what makes us so special. Teachers who are key players in actualizing the Competency Based Curriculum never participated in the process ” said Sossion.

The comment by Sossion was downplayed by Prof Magoha that there is no turning back and the ministry  will roll out whether the critics like it or not.
